Workshop Description:
What kind of dialogues do you hear throughout your day in and around you? When was the last time that you had a purposeful and uplifting dialogue with another person whether at home, at work, or at school? Suppose you are engaging in more of those dialogues with your family, friends, and colleagues, what difference would that make for you and others? Solution Focused Brief Coaching is a framework for purposeful dialogue that promotes positive growth and builds on one's preferred future within individuals, groups and organizations. The key aspects of coaching focuses on possibilities, preference and progress of the client so that their preferred future may be actualized in the unique solution-building process of "creating a vivid memory of the future". With this approach, people often experience a profound paradigm shift which allows them to create a meaningful and manageable forward-moving process and enjoy a positive shift in confidence, motivation and self-perception. The elaboration of solution focused dialogue includes various applications in schools, workplaces, leadership, and organizations.
This two-day module introduces the foundational principles and techniques of Solution Focused Brief Coaching in a highly experiential and dialogic method. In-class activities include real-time coaching demo and peer coaching practice using solution-focused dialogue. Participants will learn how to have solution-building dialogue in both personal and professional settings while exchanging feedback, fortifying rapport, and generating client-directed outcomes and strategies. This overview provides a foundation for all other modules, and participants will learn how they can apply the Solution Focused dialogue model in coaching, managing, consulting, and training applications.
