"Good character" is widely considered to be a mainstay of effective, enduring leadership. This webinar addresses the concept of "virtuous leadership", including the virtues most often associated with character-based leadership in the popular and academic press, and Eastern and Western philosophies of virtues ethics, focusing on those directly relevant to management practice.
In this webinar Dr. Hackett will discuss a questionnaire that he and his colleague have developed and used to measure virtuous leadership, along with findings showing that this tool positively predicts the well-being of leaders and their followers, as well as followers' organizational citizenship behaviours and job performance. The webinar concludes with a discussion of how the practice of virtuous leadership can contribute to a happier, healthier, engaged, and productive workforce, and steps organizations can take to this end.
The research findings and ideas presented by Dr. Hackett can be applied by organizations in all sectors including business, education, government, non-profit and others. This webinar will be of interest to anyone with an interest in understanding the nature and practice of effective leadership.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Hackett is a professor in
the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. He holds a Canadian Research Chair (Tier 1) in Organizational Behaviour and Human Performance, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association.
He specializes in executive/managerial assessment, leadership, HR recruitment, testing, selection, work attitudes, absenteeism and performance assessment.
